Hi, I'm Bobby
I've always been drawn to the natural world; not just for its beauty, but for the sense of calm, balance, and perspective it brings. That appreciation eventually led me to aquascaping, where I discovered that an aquarium could become far more than a decorative object. It could become a living ecosystem, constantly growing, changing, and revealing something new.
What began as curiosity has grown into a lifelong passion spanning more than fifteen years. Along the way, I've learned that the most rewarding aquascapes aren't built through perfection or shortcuts. They emerge from careful observation, thoughtful decisions, and consistent care.
Nature has been
my greatest teacher.
Every project reminds me to slow down, pay attention, and create the conditions where life can thrive. Plants reveal their needs through new growth. Water reflects the health of the ecosystem. Balance isn't something that's forced—it's something that's cultivated over time. Those lessons have shaped not only the way I build aquascapes, but also the way I approach creativity, craftsmanship, and life.
Filmmaking
My background in filmmaking has had an equally important influence on my work.
Years spent behind a camera taught me to notice light, texture, composition, and the quiet details that often go unnoticed. Today, those same principles guide every aquascape I design, helping create living landscapes that feel natural, balanced, and timeless.
Japanese Design & Aikido
I've also found lasting inspiration in Japanese design, the Nature Aquarium philosophy, and my years of practicing Aikido. Together, they've shaped an appreciation for simplicity, patience, balance, and working in harmony with natural forces rather than trying to overpower them.
Those principles continue to influence the way I approach every project. Rather than trying to recreate nature, my goal is to create environments where nature can flourish in its own way.
Community
One of the greatest gifts this hobby has given me has been its community. Throughout my journey, generous hobbyists shared their knowledge, answered my questions, and encouraged me to keep learning. Sharing plant trimmings, offering advice, and helping others enjoy the hobby is simply my way of giving something back.
If I can make someone's first aquascape a little less intimidating, or help an experienced hobbyist see a problem from a different perspective, it's time well spent.
